The History of the Manor

The Manoir du Bouyssou, located in Cintegabelle, is a historic residence whose origins date back to the late 15th century, a period marked by the rise of pastel production and the agricultural revival. At that time, it belonged to the Tissandier family, a wealthy bourgeois family from Toulouse. Jehan Tissandier, a prosperous merchant, owned significant landholdings in 1560, making him one of the richest landowners in the city. The estate then included a farmstead, a manor house, a dovecote, a bakehouse, a mill, and a pastel shop.

17th century

In 1650, the estate was sold to François Goty. The manor house, built of dark brick, is adorned with towers: a square tower to the west and a round tower to the east. The façade overlooks a courtyard accessible through a large gate in a high wall, guarded by a corner turret. The dovecote, a highly unusual structure resembling a keep, is particularly noteworthy. Built about fifty meters from the manor house, it is a massive round tower crowned with a brick dome, surrounded by five rounded acroteria shaped like tiny turrets. The interior of the dovecote is covered with numerous nesting boxes arranged in regular rows.
